AirDrop Now Actually Works On Your Android

12

It wasn’t always a dream. Apple AirDrop moved files fast, between nearby people, almost by magic. Photos, videos, random memes.

Android had Quick Share. Similar idea, different name, walled off behind a different ecosystem. Cross-platform sharing? Not really. Until recently, that wall was solid.

Last year changed the game. Google dropped news alongside the Pixel 10 launch that Quick Share would talk to AirDrop. Suddenly, the gap narrowed. An Android user could hand a video to an iPhone owner as easily as an Apple fan handing off a doc to a colleague. It was practical.

Google has been slow, rolling this out gradually to other phones, not just their own Pixels. Then, just this week, another wave hit. A slew of new models joined the party. Even third-party manufacturers got the nod. Samsung, Oppo, Vivo.
